Millie
Millie, a beautiful 9-year-old Labrador, is back at GRRF and looking for her forever home. When she first came to us, she was nervous meeting new people and dogs, but she has worked hard and is now much more comfortable with controlled introductions. With her people, Millie is incredibly affectionate and boasts an elephant's memory—she never forgets a friend! She has impeccable house manners, never chews inappropriately, and resists counter-surfing. Millie is also an active and fun companion who loves to play fetch with any toy, enjoys long car rides as the perfect shotgun rider, and even knows a long list of tricks, including walking on a treadmill!
Millie would thrive in a quieter home with active humans. She loves going for walks, but is also perfectly happy relaxing next to you on the couch while you read. A fenced-in yard would be wonderful for chasing her frisbee and enjoying the outdoors. She makes a great hiking or camping partner, preferring less crowded trails where she won't be surprised by strangers or strange dogs. Millie can live with another dog, but she needs a companion who is comfortable with her being the boss; otherwise, she would be happiest as the only dog. Due to her patrolling instincts in the yard, we suspect she would not do well with cats or other small animals.
Millie has been attending Pawsitive Dog Training for years and loves to practice her social skills. Continuing structured training in a similar environment will give her a chance to be challenged and show off how smart she is. If you're looking for an affectionate, loyal companion who will happily let you set the pace for a peaceful life, Millie is the dog for you! You can apply for Millie on our website, GRRF.org.
