MORGAN

8/1/08 Morgan is 1yr old, spayed female chocolate Lab.  She is from our local Animal Shelter along with her housemate Audrey.  There were 2 of 5 dogs that were taken into the shelter when is was discovered that their owner had some mental heath issues and was keeping the dog in sky kennels.  The neighbors had never seen the 5 dogs outside.  All the dogs were coated in fecal material and mats.  The tenders and volunteers at the shelter did an outstanding job of cleaning and clipping the dogs.  The other three are huskies and other rescue groups are working with them.  All the dogs are extremely kind and friendly.  They are getting the hang of house manners and are doing very well.  Being one of the youngest dogs is appears like Morgan didn't get the people attention Audrey did. Everything is new to Morgan and so she can be shy of things at first.  She is just learning how to play and in fostercare we are teasing that she is going through  her puppyhood in record time.  She is learning to play and is far more trusting of us.  She had her vet check last week and everything was great.  Her bloodwork and hip x-rays were all normal.  She was at the shelter for more than two weeks and got to know lots of the tenders and go for walks.  She is actually pretty good on a leash.  She gained some much needed weight there and is still in need of more. She is only 30 pounds.  She is getting more muscles and is loving to explore new things on her walks in foster care.  Her very patient fostermom is doing a fantastic job with her.  Morgan is progressing this week very nicely.  We are starting some obedience training with her and her house manners are coming along very well.  These two dogs are amazing to overcome their situation so well. It is a true testimony to their kind character.
