November 10, 2004 Update: Sport is back from being on tria! He was reluctantly returned as he was doing very well with his new family except that he started to follow pedestrians out on the road behind the house. Sport is normally very good off-leash and very very well behaved. The house backed up to a busy road and there was no fence. Sport needs a home that has a fenced-in yard or an owner that will stand out with him loose-- but only in a safe and quiet location with no distractions. Sport is a gem of a dog and we would like to see this fine gentleman in his forever home soon. He attaches very quickly. We feel for him-- all he wants is a person to worship and be with. This dog has so much devotion to give. *************************** July 7, 2004: Sport is a 7 yr old yellow Labrador Retriever and part Golden Retriever. He came from the Animal Shelter were he was turned in with no history. He was a quick favorite of the shelter staff and deemed "Pet of the Week". He was adopted but he was not a match with the families younger, playful dog. The new owners relinquished Sport to GRRF to try and find just the right home for him. They paid for his expensive dental work as he had a stick stuck in his teeth which had caused an abscess in his mouth. Stoic Sport just went on happily with life and showed no signs of distress. He teeth were examined and the problem noticed and fixed. Sport is now neutered and x-rayed, too. He is tattooed and up to date on vaccines. He is a big love and adores people. He gets along with other dogs but would love to be the only dog to be the receiver of all the attention. Sport is excellent in the house and is great off leash. He has great manners and follows with incredible devotion in his eye to anyone that shows him kindness. He is a very devoted dog as well.
