    CEDAR

7/17/05

Cedar is a 9 month old, spayed female Golden Retriever.  Cedar is the brother to Buddy that we just got in from the Shelter.  They are both from a local breeder.  Cedar was relinquished by a family that was her third home.  They were concerned that she was very hyper and a little overwhelming for them and thought she needed someone with more time for her.  This is a all to often occurrence with Golden's and Labs.  We evaluated Cedar and think she is very normal 9 month old golden without hyper tenancies.  She can settle herself and is very kind and wants to please.  She is a typical teenage retriever and wants to jump up and chew things up but she responds very easily to positive training methods and is exceptionally bright.  Many times retrievers just aren't for everyone or at least a young one.  They are very active breeds and stay juvenile for a long time.  Usually 2 years but some can take longer, up to 4 years, while others are silly for much much longer.  We always tell folks that the more obedience training they can get prior to 2 years of age is instrumental for a well trained Golden or Lab.  So people need to have some time and effort to invest in their young Lab or Golden.  Food for thought!

Cedar was adopted to a young family that has adopted a young Golden from GRRF a few years ago.  They have done a great job with Lucky and were looking for another Golden to keep their children and themselves company.  Lucky has blossomed into a very behaved Golden and now can be a great big brother to Cedar.  The family is quite happy with Cedar and think she is just wonderful!!!!
