Buddy 8 is a purebred Golden Retriever from a breeder here in North Pole. He was relinquished to the Animal Shelter because he was chewing, barking and they said he was too hyper. In foster care, inside the home with a family and other dogs to play with, Buddy is an amazing little golden boy. We have found him to be very quiet and although he does chew ( he is only 9 months old) he will chew appropriate toys when supervised and in a crate when not. Buddy is a very smart and kindly natured golden. He is very good at sitting and has learned that he cannot jump up on you if he sits. Buddy has learned to walk well on a leash with the help of a "halti' head harness. He seemed to have no "social graces" with other dogs. He desperately wanted to play but hadn't been around other dogs to get it down. In foster care there were three other well behaved and very social dogs to play with and he got it quite quickly. He thoroughly enjoys playing now and just adores children. This is an outstanding little golden and we are amazed that someone so misunderstood him. We suspect he spent some time outside alone and merely had to resort to entertaining himself. In the right environment, Buddy has turned into the golden he should be and with age he should blossom into a very well rounded and brilliant golden. 8/4/05 UPDATE*** Buddy is on trial with a family in Wasilla that missed out on Josh. His owner is an animal control officer and has a young male golden for Buddy to play with. They are an experienced golden family as their young golden taught them the patience required to go through golden adolescent chewing and goofy behavior. Buddy got a ride with his foster family to his new home which was very rewarding for them and we appreciate the dedication from this amazing foster family "The Pauleys"!!!!
