Luke is a 4 month old Golden Retriever/Labrador cross from the Nome Animal Shelter. He and his brother Sam came from a litter of 11 puppies and as is often the case, some families find puppyhood too much to handle and they ended up at the shelter two weeks apart. Luke was taken out of the shelter by a Golden Retriever fancier Cheryl and fostered in her home. She had done some great preliminary training with him and got him used to being in the house and crate trained. Both she and Animal Control Officer Amy were so helpful and wonderful to work with. Frontier Flying Service helped get the boys to us and they are equally great to work with. Thank you to all of you!! Luke is now neutered, vaccinated and tattooed. His amazing and patient foster family took these photos and he is a large and handsome boy. He has great manners and learns very quickly. He is completely housebroke and will go this weekend to a special lady to be a hearing service dog. He will be going through lots of additional training, but first the basics.
