November 10, 2004: Zeka went on trial right after her surgery last week! Her new family is now adopting her. Hooray! November 3, 2004: Zeka is a one-year old Labrador retriever cross. She came from the Animal Shelter where she had been relinquished. She had originally been taken in last June from a suspected mistreatment situation. The rescuing family found that they didn't have the time for two dogs and relinquished Zeka. Zeka's right eye was weeping as she had entropion which is where the lower eyelid is turned in and rubbing on the cornea. She had been this way all her life. Many families were interested in her at the shelter but were worried about expensive veterinary bills for her eye. GRRF got Zeka and, while out for her spay surgery, we had her eyelid fixed which was a tiny incision and one stitch. Now, a week later, she looks great and no one = would ever know. Also we had her hips x-rayed and found that she has an old and healed broken pelvis. Zeka is the calmest 1yr old lab we have had in some time. She is extremely gentle and adoring. She loves children and other dogs. This is an amazingly trusting and loyal little girl for all that has happened to her in the past!!
