10/18/06 Truman is a estimated 1 1/2 year old, now neutered, Labrador/Chesapeake Bay Retriever cross. He is black with brown undertones and waves in hair over his back. Truman has an extremely handsome face and the rest of his body will grown in to it and fill out more. He was a stray that was hit by a car and taken to the After Hours Vet Emergency Clinic by the local Animal Shelter. Radiographs confirmed that he had fractured the wings of his Ileum or top wings of his pelvis. They are healing and not interfering with his hip joints that look great by the way. He was just very sore and very lucky. At the shelter and on Rimadyl for pain, Truman would get up and come to front his cage for anyone so he could gently lick their hand. Even though very uncomfortable, greeting people was more important. We thought this was a tremendous key to his very gently nature. In fostercare Truman adores other dogs and even laid on the grown to play with puppies. He has an incredible pain tolerance and is now getting around very well and will gladly let anyone palpate or maneuver his sore hind end for physical therapy. Truman has a clean bill of heath from his vet and should recover completely with no lingering problems in a couple more months. Truman is very calm and loving. He has been great in the house and loves a soft dog bed to relax and chew his nylabone on. This dog has a great spirit and loving attitude, he would make a very devoted companion.
