SUGAR 2

5/20/07 Sugar came to GRRF from Anchorage where her owner had purchased her from a breeder and later realized that she was blind.  At 4 months of age she relinquished her to her Vet. clinic due to an emergency move out of state. Lisa who worked there called GRRF and fostered her until we could arrange a flight with Frontier Flying Service.  Sugar was born blind and has been checked out by Dr. Maddux at Aurora Animal clinic and Dr. Gardner the Veterinary Eye Specialist and there is nothing that can be done to restore any sight for her.  Sugar however could care less.  She gets around very well and can memorize her surrounds quite quickly.  She rarely runs into anything and runs with full abandon and has the time of her life at all times. Sugar is an inspiration to watch and be around. In fostercare, she was clicker trained to basic obedience skills and she excelled. Her original family had actually done a great job with her. She came fully housebroke and crate trained. She is very outgoing and friendly.  She has never had sight so she doesn't miss it at all.  She can sense if something is in her way and she runs right past it.  Sugar was adopted to a young couple with an incredible young dog that just adores Sugar.  They play constantly and life is very good for Sugar and her family.  Sugar plays regularly at the dog park and no one realizes she is blind until someone throws the ball for her. That is something she can't do but she can few limitations.  Amazing dog!!!!!
