 SKY

10/26/05

Sky is a two year old purebred, spayed female, Golden Retriever.  She and her sister Feather came from Washington State.  They are English line Golden's that are very light colored.  They came from a very kind breeder that purchased them for breeding but their hip x-ray OFA certification did not pass.  She is trying to breed the best of the best and although she adores these girls, she wanted to see them go to homes where they could be companions and very well loved.  She heard we had families in Alaska waiting, so one of our volunteers brought them back with her from Washington.  We like to think that they just had a career change.  We commend this breeder for doing all the certifications and doing all the health checks prior to breeding.  These girls have AKC papers and would be great at obedience.  Sky's hips should not cause her any problems as they are so slight and only on one side.  Her breeder knows that this is what is perpetuated on down the line and will only breed dogs that have outstanding hips and cleared through OFA.  Sky is only 50 pounds and very smart but very much still a puppy.  She is crate trained, as she still chews if left alone, especially socks!  Sky is also very soft minded and it doesn't take much to correct her.  Her wonderful foster parents took her through a positive reinforcement obedience course and she did great.  Sky needed a longer fostercare to work on her social skills with other dogs and confidence that obedience class provided.  She is now adopted to an amazing couple that are outstanding Golden owners.  Sky is their forth golden and they are very active and have another young golden male for Sky to play with.  Sky has gone from the Washington wine country to beautiful Denali Park in Alaska!!
