Samson

Adopted 6-10-2004

May 22, 2004:  Samson is a 2 year old Newfie/Golden /Lab/Springer cross who originally was transferred from the pound to GRRF when he was a 5 month old pup. He was adopted and has been returned this week.

Samson is a large and gentle dog with an elegant gait and takes a soft hand to handle him. He has been with small children and gets along well with other dogs and cats. His old family hardly ever left him and said  he was not able to be left alone in the house so they started leaving him outside loose. He took up with a neighborhood dog and attacked the neighbor's chickens and goat. This just goes to show how any dog has a risk of this if left unattended.

Samson is just about the most gentle dog we have ever meant. This was strictly against GRRF contract to ever leave him unattended outside and against borough ordinance. We have had no problem leaving him in the house or in a large wire crate while in foster care. He is extremely calm and easygoing while we come and go.

He loves to ride in the car and is very calm and just lays back and enjoys the ride. He is an extremely quiet boy but loves to play with other dogs. In foster care, we have had him with a very rambunctious puppy, as well as some teenage dogs his age and he is amazing and so gentle with the puppy. He is great on leash and is a pleasure to take for a long walk. He knows how to sit, lay down, come and shake hands. He needs a home that will appreciate the gentle soul that he is and keep an eye on him while outside or a fenced in yard.
