ROCKO |
|
6/3/07 UPDATE Rock was on trial and being adopted by very nice young man who was able to take Rocko most everywhere with him. If left alone it was only for a short time with his dad or a relative that was staying with them. Suddenly, the young man had a job opportunity come up that will take him out of town for 4-6 weeks and Rocko would have to stay alone for long periods of time with his father and the relative that was staying with him had left. He and his dad adored Rocko but they had Rocko's best interest in mind that they prehaps couldn't give him the time and attention he needs. Rocko came back even better behaved and well groomed. He went right back to Susan's for foster and her dogs that he know so well. Rocko is a pleasure and has quite the personality. Rocko does well if left alone for short periods of time like 4 hours at a time. He starts to get anixous if left too long but a routine seems to be helpful and he knows his kennel and is great with it. However, he is done chewing and once comfortable in a situation he can be left loose alone. We have done that and he is fine but we use the kennel to keep him used to it for an easier transition to a new home. These two families were very nice and Rocko has had quite a journey. We hope though that his next home will be his forever home. 4/2/07 UPDATE Rocko was returned. He did great with 5 children in the family but things just didn't work out. Everyone realized how much time it takes to care for a dog and the children were not as helpful and the mom had hoped. They were very good to Rocko but learned that they were not ready and will wait for the kids to get older and things to settle before they try another dog. Rocko is back with his foster mom and she says he is just the best little retriever. He now loves to sleep on furniture and the bed and is very good in the house. Rocko is very sweet natured and loves to snuggle while you watch TV or read a book. He is very content to curl up at your feet under the computer table.
12/17/06 Rocko is a 1 1/2 year old, neutered male, possibly Golden Retriever and maybe Australian Shep or Sheltie cross. He is only 42 pounds and a nice size dog. Rocko was originally adopted from the FNSB Animal Shelter last summer at 5 months of age but his owner couldn't keep him and gave him to some friends in Anderson and in Aug. Rocko was found as a stray on the Parks Hwy at the Ponderosa. A lady who kindly takes in dogs took care of him and put up posters. After no success at finding his owners or placing him, she brought him to GRRF. Rocko did have a microchip and we traced it to the owner in Florida who authorized us to place him. Rocko is as dear of a dog as they come. He is so young but very well behaved. He has loads of patience and gets along well with other dogs, children and cats. He was outside mostly in his past but now thoroughly enjoys being inside and has excellent manners. He will not get on furniture or on the bed. Well, he will get on the bed but only if asked.
