POLARIS

December 23, 2004: Polaris is an older black Lab, female.  She was brought to the Animal Shelter by someone that had witnessed her almost being run over by a snowmachine.  She was very tired and sore but otherwise seemed just fine.  She waited out her stray time and then some.  No one came for her and she charmed everyone at the Shelter and was in our hearts and minds here at GRRF.  Although filled to the gills with foster dogs, GRRF took her in as the shelter was very full as well.  Polly as she is nicknamed got her vet check done and all of her bloodwork was great and then we x-rayed her hips and found she had a fractured pelvis in 4 places.  This is a very tough and amazing dog.  Her pelvis is healing very well and she runs and plays likes nothing ever happened.  She is a tribute to the stoic spirit and kind nature of a Labrador.   This is a sweetheart of a dog and so gentle.
