July 21, 2004 update from Mitch's foster Mom: Mitch has made considerable progress since March. He is reliable at a verbal recall, needing few corrections. He loves his crate for feeding and napping. I've worked with Mitch almost exclusively off-leash, but Mitch is getting excellent on-leash as well. In April,Mitch and I completed a basic obedience class. In May, we started a tracking class. Mitch and I had fun and Mitch displayed terrific potential. But job demands have meant that I had to drop out of the tracking class. Mitch is excellent with cats and with other dogs. He is playful. Mitch is most definately an intelligent, thinking dog. At the same time, he is very affectionate and needs his "lap" time every evening for a few minutes! He is extremely acrobatic and a swift runner and fast swimmer. Even with that curly tail, Mitch loves the water!
March 11, 2004: Mitch went to Muttessori (doggie day care) and absolutely thrived! Within seconds he located 2 other teenagers (a blue heeler and another black lab) and they immediately started having fun. By 6 o'clock he was pleasantly tired. He is responding better to "come" and to "sit", so we are seeing progress. Yippee.
March 9, 2004: Mitch is approximately 14 months old and is a very high energy boy with deep feelings and a large desire to please. He is very social with other dogs and absolutely loves being with his 4 big foster dogs. He is a gentleman with his two foster cats (which is a real plus). Mitch is in excellent physical shape and sports a luxurious, shiny coat with a most extraordinary curly tail. Striking!
