Maclin is a 13 year young, purebred Golden Retriever.  His owners couldn't keep him for safety reasons in Central.  Maclin is almost completely deaf but his eyesight is doing well.  He could wander off and not hear someone call his name.  Maclin will need a fenced yard.  Maclin's initial Vet exam went well as he is in great physical health and his bloodwork was all normal.  His hip x-rays were great as was his chest x-ray.  However, his abdomen radiograph showed a tumor on his spleen that was confirmed with ultrasound.  Maclin still needed to be neutered as his prostate was enlarged and pressing on his bladder.  Since Maclin was is such great physical health we scheduled him for an exploratory surgery and neuter at Aurora Animal Clinic after a week on hormone therapy to shrink his prostate and it worked like a dream.  The tumor was just on his spleen at on end and about to rupture.  Dr. Stuve removed Maclin's spleen and neutered him was well.  Maclin was up and perky the next day.  Christmas was 5 days later and Maclin spent it being spoiled and getting a huge stocking full of goodies.  Now after New Years, Maclin is very ready for a new home.  His biopsy of his spleen came back as a benign tumor.  Yeah no cancer!   He in comfortable in the house now, as he was an outdoor dog prior to coming to GRRF.  He has no accidents as his prostate is normal and being neutered has helped a lot.  He loves to go for walks on leash and is getting very good at hand signals.  He is a delightful dog with loads of personality and charm not to mention he is gorgeous.
