JAKE 8 |
|
12/28/06 Jake 8 is a 10 month old neutered male, chocolate Labrador Retriever. He was from the local Animal Shelter were his old owners left him and he was there for 2 weeks prior to Christmas. He was adopted the Sat. before Christmas and was returned the Tue after. The adopter said he wasn't housetrained. Jake was very lethargic and sad after the return. His whole demeanor had changed and he just laid at the back of his kennel. He was also now lame on a front and back leg. GRRF got him out and took him to the Vet and he had a temperature of 105 (dog's temp is normally 101-102F). He was put on antibiotics over the weekend and his fever was normal the next day and he started to feel better. His lameness in both legs was still present but not as bad. Jake was sedated and x-rayed and he has Panosteoitis or "growing pains". He must have just had a growth spurt and his long bones need to thicken up. This is a temporary thing in young dogs and Jake should make a full recovery. 1/5/07 Jake is doing great and is completely normal now. He is active and playful. Jake is crate trained and loves other animals. He is housebroken but does not signal when he had to go, we and ask and reward for going to the door. He is good with cats and other dogs. Jake is learning basic obedience and will need to continue in class to get off on the right foot. He is a very sweet and handsome lab and deserves a loving home that understands the antics of a young Labrador. Lovely Lab!!!!
