JAKE 5

Update: Jake has finally found a place to call home.  He fits right in with his new family.  He has an adoring and active young girl that researched all about dogs and their care.  She purchased all of Jakes supplies herself with money she had been saving for just the right dog.  Her parents really enjoy Jake too, especially the dad who is home during the day with Jake.  Jake has a fenced in yard for lots of "fetch" time.  This winter Jake will try out Ski Joring too!

October 26, 2004 Update:  Jake came back from being on-trial and is now available again!  Jake came back from a long trial where the family adored him. He kept the house safe and snuggled with the family at night. All was a go for adoption until the landlord came by and noticed Jake sunning himself on the back porch chewing on an end board of the porch. He is still a 2yr old, and it was wood but, none-the- less, the landlord called it quits for the placement.

Jake has never chewed anything in the house and was just outside for a short time. Jake has had some bad luck with trials. His first trial was 2-3 weeks long and the son and husband really liked him and enjoyed his retrieving skills but the mom had an injured shoulder and there were two small dogs in the house and grandchildren. Jake is a friendly but powerful dog and he was just too strong for her. We then matched that family up with Princess (one of the golden crosses from the Matsu Shelter). She is smaller and more gentle around the small dogs and little children.

Jake just needs the right home and one that is looking for a lovely, calm dog in the house and a tremendous retriever and playful boy outside. Jake is a beautifully handsome dog with loads of character. Please consider him as a lifelong companion.

July 28, 2004: Jake is a Lab/Golden Retriever cross and he is around 18 months old. Jake came from the wonderful folks at the Ft. Wainwright Veterinary Services were he was relinquished.

Jake is now neutered, and is fully vaccinated, wormed, tattooed, microchipped and his hips have been x-rayed and they look excellent. Jake is an active young boy. His big smile goes perfectly with his big heart. He is as sensitive as he is good looking. He has a comical "cowlick" between his eyes which adds to his expression.

Jake is very good in the house and is kennel trained. He knows to sit, down, stay and is good about not jumping up on people. He knows these very well and is very good with other dogs and children.
