Hercules is a 7 year young, neutered male, Golden Retriever cross from the Matsu Animal Shelter. Two weeks ago he was taken from his family as they were not caring for him and his three other playmates on the property. Hercules weighed only 38 pounds but after two weeks at the shelter on good food and care he now weighs 50 pounds. Although still a little thin, he is doing very well. The shelter called us to see if we could place him. Our dear GRRF volunteer Jan Short drove from Anchorage to Palmer and picked him up and babysat him for the day (aka: spoiled him rotten) until his flight that evening on Frontier Flying Service. Hercules did exceptionally well in foster care with four other dogs in the family. He is a sweetheart and very gentle. He loves a belly rub and thrives on attention. His vet check two days later was all normal and in fact no one believes he is seven years old as he acts like a pup and is in great shape for his ordeal. 4/23/06 Hercules went on trial with a very special family that had adopted a 13yr old Golden from us four years ago. Chelsea lived to be over 16 years of age in their loving home. They had been looking for another and heard about Hercules and knew he was the one. Hercules went over for a trial and within the week, completely won them over as well as one out of three cats. Hercules is now officially adopted and they could not be happier with him. For a dog that lived outside, he is great in the house and good on a leash. They have changed his name to "Hercie Bear" a name much more fitting his personality. Hercie Bear is now 58 pounds and looking great!!!! Contact us at our email, info@grrf.org |
