Halo is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female, Golden Retriever/Cocker cross.  She has been returned to GRRF from being adopted one year ago when she was 7 months old.  Halo was an active teenager but her new family had worked on her obedience skills and they were very good and she stayed on the yard well.  Now the family has a different schedule and there is little time for Halo.  She has started to not listen and runs off because a good game of chase is pretty fun when you've been waiting for someone to play with to come home.  Halo is now a little nervous of strangers and needs a patient family that will re socialize her and get her out and about.  We have been sharpening up her obedience skills and they are coming along nicely.  She is coming better and wants to please very badly.  She is going through a fearful period in her life so a gentle and positive approach works best with her.  The family she came from was a very loving one and they did nothing bad to Halo.  Some dogs go through a fearful period at this time in their lives, plus she doesn't understand where everything she know has gone.  Halo immediately trusts children and is cautious at first of men (more intimidating looking) but comes around with a happy tone and treats.  Halo needs to get out of the house and go places, to hear and see new things.  This will help get her back to her old self again and help her bond with a new family.  Halo likes to play with other dogs but may chase cats.  Halo looks all golden but we know there was a little cocker in her family too.  Halo is a very smart and loving dog that needs just the right home.
