    GEANNIE

10/1/05

Geannie is a purebred, 7 yr, spayed female, Golden Retriever.  Geannie came from the Northwest with a family that moved to Alaska and they gave her away at 2 years of age as they had no time for her.  Now 5 years later,  Geannie's family has two children and one more on the way and they too do not have enough to spend with Geannie and she has been spending more and more time outside tied up.  In foster care, Geannie is a very endearing golden that is desperate to belong and be in the house.  She adores people and cuddles up to children.  She smiles when she is unsure or trying to please you.  She is only 60 pounds and is in great shape.  Geannie's vet check was great.  All of her bloodwork was normal as well at her x-rays.  Her hips show no signs of arthritis.  Geannie was having peeing accidents in her old home and we had a urinalysis done she did have a low grade infection.  The first week in fostercare Geannie had two accidents and it also seems like she just didn't want to bother us and couldn't hold it anymore.  We were slow to see she needed to go out.  Now on antibiotics and encouraging her to tell us and making a big deal with rewards for going to the door, Geannie has had no problems at all.  She is noticeably more comfortable and while at first was nervous about the dogs in the house, now plays and thoroughly enjoys herself.  This is a very sweet natured little lady and so wants a family to devote herself to.
