FELTON

2/20/09 - Felton was a stray in the Kenai Animal Shelter.  Our friends Shelly Walker and Gretchen Stietler got him out for us and Gretchen is fostering him in the Anchorage area.  We had quite a few applications for young goldens in Anchorage so he is there being shown to some of the families with applications in.  He will come to Fairbanks at the beginning of March for his vet. exam and neuter.  Gretchen knows him best and is well versed in dogs and has these fine things to say about young him.  "Felton is about 4-5 months old and will be a very large adult dog. He is a golden mix with a very dense soft coat. He is very active although he is easy to train. So far he will sit, lay down, get in his kennel (with treats) and come happily when called. He walks on leash fairly well- but better with my other dogs as examples. He gets along with both my male and female dogs as well as my cat. He is very social with people and pets. We have a dog door which he uses and he hasn't had a single accident in the house.  He is jumpy and mouthy but I am sure with training and age he will outgrow that. I truly love this puppy and know he will make a great and loyal dog. He WILL need training and consistency as he likes to push the rules and is a little hard headed when he thinks he is right. He loves to play in the backyard with my other dogs and go for adventures. Felton is very cuddly once his energy is spent. He really enjoys laying around and being loved on. "
