Duke 2 is a 7-8 year young, neutered male, chocolate Labrador Retriever. He was a stray at the Fairbanks Animal Shelter. His owner was notified as he had been a repeat visitor at the shelter over the past few years but his owner did not come for him this time. Duke was extremely underweight with his ribs and pelvic bone protruding through. His vet check was good and his bloodwork was normal. He has put on more that 10 pounds the two weeks he has been in foster care. He gets another Vet. check done this week and then he will be available for adoption. Duke's foster family has done a great job with him. They have taken him camping and is very responsive to voice command off leash. He is not a run away dog and is a fabulous retriever and true to his breed, he loves to swim. His foster parents had these wonderful things to say about Duke: he is very intelligent and knows many commands, someone has worked with him for a long time. He settles down easily, likes to lay on the bed if you let him, but will be content to "go lay down" when you tell him to. He doesn't like our water dish though, (we have the re fillable 5 gal jug thing, and we have to fill a dish just for him because he won't go near it!) and when he's thirsty and his dish is empty, he'll bring his dish to you! What a ham! Duke is very good in the house and great with other dogs. Duke is a very happy and personable boy with loads to offer. Great Lab!!!!!!! Contact us at our email, info@grrf.org |
