     DAKOTA 2

        Before grooming

7/8/06

Dakota 2 is a 4 year old Golden Retriever neutered male that was left at the local Animal Shelter by his former owner that was purchased in Washington State, traveled here and thought his new yard was too small for Dakota.  Dakota appears to have been an outside dog and has about three inches of excess hair that make him look as if he were obese but it is mostly mats and tangles.  Four volunteers at Aurora Animal Clinic spent 1 1/2 hours grooming out his mats while waking up from anesthetic for his x-rays, which were all normal.  Under all the muck and mess, there was a gorgeous show type golden retriever.  Dakota is now about the half the dog he once was, at least hair wise!  Dakota is an exceptionally happy boy that loves to carry things in his mouth and wiggles with delight.  He is very playful and has some very good manners.  What a shame for this dog to be outside!!

Dakota is adopted to a very dedicated family that has continued his grooming and exercising routine.  They have just purchased a house and won't be able to move in till the end of the month.  Dakota (now Nugget) stays with is foster mom at night and gets to spend the day with his new family.  They took him to the Mutt March and he pasted his "Canine Good Citizen Test".    Yeah  Nugget!!!!

They will be walking him in the Golden Days Parade too!
