3/21/07   Buddy 9 (the ninth Buddy we've had) is a purebred black Labrador Retriever.  He was relinquished with his Dad Rusty 6.  His owner was his breeder.  Due to a series of unfortunate events, his owner has had to keep the dogs outside this winter and they haven't done well.  He called GRRF concerned that he couldn't provide the vet. care or attention that they needed.  Both dogs were severly underweight and had skin conditions.  He has a female yellow Lab that is Buddy's Mom and she looked great.  Her coat was normal and she had good weight.  GRRF is helping the owner with her spay and vet bills and he is keeping her and she will return to being a housedog. GRRF will check in her in the future to see how things are going.  The owner is very grateful for this help.  He has had her for 7 years.  Buddy and Rusty were examed and bloodwork was done.  Both were normal but Buddy had a yeast and staph. skin infection.  Buddy was then neutered, put on antibiotics and bathed with medicated shampoo.  His hips were x-rayed and look great.  Now two months have gone by and Buddy is looking great but his fur on his face is the last to come back.  He is off all medications, eats Euk. puppy food and has gained a good amount of weight and looks wonderful.  Buddy has turned into a very good housedog with great manners.  He has learned basic commands and loves to play with other dogs.  Buddy has a super soft personality that just begs to please.  He is one of the sweetest Lab we have every known.  Excellent boy!!
