2/5/08 Buddy 12 (the twelve Buddy we've had)  is a 4 year old now neutered, purebred yellow Labrador Retriever.  He is Rosie's dad.  Buddy's original owners moved down south in the states and left Buddy and Rosie with their grown daughter seven months ago.  They were going to send for them but changed their mind.  The daughter is quite attached to them but cannot keep them.  She held onto them until we had room in fostercare and we went and retrieved them from the Palmer area and they flew back with us on Frontier Flying Service.  Both dogs are beautifully behaved.  We hated to separate them but a wonderful home that had adopted a chocolate lab from us a few years ago adopted Rosie.  Buddy is doing great in foster care by himself and is enjoying all the attention.  Buddy knows many trick like "sit pretty" and basic commands.  He is good off and on leash and a pleasure in the house.  He adores other dogs and is large and gentle dog.  However, in his past he was teased by small children and he is nervous around them so older or no children would be best for him.  He has never bit or even acted like it.  Buddy is a yellow with a chocolate gene so his nose and skin around his eyes are chocolate and not black.  He had some blocked tear ducts that were attended to under sedation.  He is extremely fit and athletic but his hip x-rays show some hip dysplasia and he will need to be kept fit and lean.  In his older age he may need some arthritis medication.  He is not in need of surgery at this time and can fetch and run around like the fit dog he is.  Buddy is a very kind and loving Lab looking for great home to keep him forever.
