Bailey is a 3 year old, spayed female, black Labrador cross.  Bailey comes from the Nome Animal Shelter.  She was brought home as a puppy from the grocery store by some children and the parents kept her.  Soon Bailey was tied up outside and no one had much time for her.  The Animal Control officer said the neighbor would come and play with Bailey and help care for her.  She got off her tie out and ended up in the shelter.  Her family did not redeem her in hopes that another home would adopt her and have more time for her.  The Animal Shelter sent Bailey to GRRF in hopes to find her just that home.  Bailey is very good in the house and loves to chew on her nylabones and just wags her tail to be inside.  She gets along with most dogs and is playful.  Bailey is good in a kennel and is very quiet.  She is housebroken and just a delight to have.  Bailey's one bad habit is that like most dogs that are tied outside and limited on play, once off leash, she is hard to get to come back.  She will fall for the old "get in the car" trick and come straight to any car for a ride.  Bailey needs a home with a fence to prevent any wanderings.  We have been working on a long line with Bailey and teaching her to come and she is getting very good at it.  Bailey needs a loving, caring home that she can bond with and we think this will pass.  Bailey had so little time off leash or anyway to play that it is normal for her to want to prolong it.  Many dogs do this.

Bailey is a very nice size Lab at just 60 pounds with excellent hips.  She is a dear!

                                               UPDATE - 4/7/06-

Bailey is very good in the house and seems to know about snuggling next to you on the couch.  She will get off if asked but is very happy to settle in next to you.  We are very pleased with the way Bailey is coming along.  She is very good with the four dogs in her foster home and very good with children as well.  She is calm and well behaved in the house and seems quite at home with anyone she meets.
