AUDREY

8/1/08 Audrey is a 4 1/2 yr old, now spayed female, Spaniel mix possibly with Beagle and maybe a hint of golden in there.  She is from our local Animal Shelter along with her housemate Morgan.  There were 2 of 5 dogs that were taken into the shelter when is was discovered that their owner had some mental heath issues and was keeping the dog in sky kennels.  The neighbors had never seen the 5 dogs outside.  All the dogs were coated in fecal material and mats.  The tenders and volunteers at the shelter did an outstanding job of cleaning and clipping the dogs.  The other three are huskies and other rescue groups are working with them.  All the dogs are extremely kind and friendly.  They are getting the hang of house manners and are doing very well. Audrey is very outgoing and loves to cuddle.  She loves her kennel but is very clean in it and only stays in it when unattended.  She loves to play and seems to have very good doggie social skills.  She is still under weight but her vet check was very good.  The shelter had the dogs for a few weeks and really put some much needed weight on them too.  Audrey's blood work was all normal and her radiographs of her hips, abdomen and chest were all normal.  She did have two mammary tumors that were removed when we spayed her last week.  The histopath came back this week as noncancerous.  She also had a dental and premolar that was fractured removed.  Audrey is healing well and LOVES to play with a tennis ball her foster mom says.  She still grabs at treats a little rough so she may need a family with older children.  She is not food aggressive just hungry for a treat.  Her foster mom is an experienced dog person and is training with her.  Audrey is amazing sweet and good natured.  She is small at 26 pounds and her coat will grow back her long hair on her tail and legs.  She loves to be brushed and pampered.
